Drop
Date: April 22, 2699 Time: 1100
Charlie Three’s vision turned from the gray, black room inside of the Infinitum Stellarum, to a view of infinite space and a charred dead planet, whose name was Earth. Once great grasslands were now turned in rocky deserts. The oceans were mostly gone and it was controlled by an evil alien empire, the Vikilliks.
This was one of the first times in twenty years that a human had laid eyes on this planet. But now was the time to conquer humanity’s home. The order came in for the HODS to drop. Mechanisms holding the pod let go. Reports started flying in, “Bravo Group away. Charlie Group away. India Group away. Alpha Group away. Deltas away.”
As the battle-comm channels filled up, the dropships launched from their hanger bay. Filling up C-3’s view with thousands of ships and pods all heading down to the planet. Suddenly fire erupted from all sides of the pod, making the metal on the outside of the pod red-hot.
C-3 thought of recent history that brought him here. The 30 year-long Human-Vikillik war. The burning of Earth. Humanity’s navies and armies scatted around the sector and now with the majority of what was left of Earth’s military regrouped the humans were going to take back Earth.
The fire stopped. The pod started to cool. The sky was now blue not black. The winds of the sky shook the pod and C-3 closed his eyes again and thought of how much the ever-forsaken aliens had ruined his life. First during the First Battle of Earth he lost his mother who was a captain of the Freedom. He lost her only a few years after he was born and he lost his home planet, Earth, which was not the only home of mankind, but it was his home. Then after the Exile his dad’s ship was blown up in the Alpha-Centari system. Now his life was at stake just trying to get though the atmosphere of the planet he used to call home.
The retro-rockets kicked in slowing the pod down and landing it. C-3 got out of his pod and knew it was time to fight.
